ABSTRACT

The advancement in the construction industry by adopting different techniques and different materials enhanced the performance of concrete is one of the major areas of research in present time. A lot of efforts are made to reduce the construction efforts.
and cost of the concrete. self-Compacting Concrete (SC) is one of types of concrete in which the use of vibrators is eliminated by producing it with substantial.
flow ability that it may fill formwork without any vibration. Thu, reducing the construction effort further the addition of various minerals. industrial and agricultural by-products/materials not only adjust the environmental hazards due to dumping of these materials but reduce the cost of concrete. This study is focused on to investigate the use of Silica Fume (SF) and Fly Ash (FA) together a cement replacement. In this study, SF & FA were used i n combination of 25175, 50150, 75/25 proportion with 5%, I0% and 15% cement replacement respectively. The fresh and hardened properties of SCC were analyzed during the study. For fresh properties, Workability Tests (J-Ring, V Funnel & Slum p Spread) were performed. I n hardened state, compressive strength were checked at 3,7, 14 and 28 days respectively. Also other properties like unit weight and dimensional stability were analyzed. The result revealed significant effect on all the properties studied. However, fresh propert1e of SCC with all replacement levels and combination of SF & FA remained within the range of standard values as per EFNARC 2002. The compressive strength is improved by 17% at 15% replacement level with SF & FA being 50/50 blended together.
