ABSTRACT
Cement based grouts are commonly used as the repa ir and strengthen ing material for reinforced concrete members. These grouts arc used 1n semi-1iqu id state wi th high water cement ratio, thus exhibiting inherent deficiencies such as crack i ng of grout itself due to shrinkage after dry i ng and high water absorption because of large nc1mber of pores etc. Now a days resin grouts are very common to be adopted as repai r material particu larly in developed countries. Norma lly very fine sand is mixed i n the resin as filler. This experi mental study i s undertaken to invest igate the effect of marble dust as fil ler i n the resin grout by repl acing sand. The sand replacement with ma rble dust adopted is 0, 50% and I 00% by weight of filler. The resin-to-filler proport ion studied 1s I :I , I :1.5, and I :2 by wei ght. The specimens were exposed to air under room temperature for 28 days (the age of test ing). The effect of marble dust was studied in terms of compressive strength. flexura l strength and modulus of elastici ty. J n add1t1on t he specimens of cement based grout of ratio I:I with and without marble dust were cast and tested for comparison purpose. The results obtained showed manifold enhancement i n the compressive strength and flexural strength of resin grout when compared to those of cement grout. A similar trend is observed in resin mortars when sand is replaced with marble dust. The modulus of elast icity remai ned independent of any effect of marble dust, however, the stress-stra in and load-deflection behav ior of resin grout with marble dust exhibited remarkably ductile behavior when compared to those of cement and resin grouts without marble dust.
