ABSTRACT

Streaming video is booming and user demand to watch videos over the internet is at record level. According to the different analysis of total web surfing, it has been observed that streaming videos are more than other web surfing such as social websites. Users having unique Quality of Service (QoS) demand when they are streaming videos; in particular they want to watch online videos without any interruption and in the best possible quality. Such user's QoS demand would be a big challenge when the user is connected with limited network bandwidth. Therefore video contents needs to be converted in such a way that a user can watch videos smoothly even in a lower network bandwidths. This is possible by video transcoding. In this thesis an architecture is proposed by analyzing different existing architectures/techniques. The architecture implements different video transcoding techniques and at the end this model indicates that user QoS can be maintained with a reasonable cost by using video transcoding technique
