ABSTRACT
This research study presents idea about user interaction with computers for search of meaning in the native language (Sindhi) using e-dictionaries. The available resources are good but not suitable for search of word meaning at real-time native linguistic based the resources such as manual dictionaries. E-dictionaries in shape of online and offline provides rneaning but the cost of efforts & time factors are not utilized in well-mannered while searching.It has been found that users gets word meaning or synonym from e dictionaries.In most of cases the users requires getting meanings in their own native for better understanding of searching word. A quick need of Add-in support found for Microsoft word for easiness in search or lookup of word meaning at real-time in bilingual as English to Sindhi and vice versa.
This research study consists of two phases as Application development and Usability testing. In first phase application has been developed & it is consists of three steps, as Development of real-time add-in support application, integrate add-in Microsoft word processor and incorporate application with large database that contains more then 50,000 Sindhi words. Thusend users can easily search word meaning in its native as Sindhi language at real-time while reading and writing in MS Word. The user can select the word and search it in real-time add-in support (developed lexicon application). It provides the meaning in Sindhi.The lexicon application has been developed using.Net technology with integration of MySQL. It provides easy support for development of add in and plugin and MySQL server with user interface supporting SqlYog that make easiness in development of application database and its incorporation in MS word with integration of Sindhi words database. In second phase the usability testing been done to measure the efficiency, effectiveness and satisfaction in context of use. The developed application compared with Sindhi word processor, Luhana Bilingual dictionary & Sindhi online dictionary in usability perceptive.Therefore, this research study is really
impressible and will help the students, teachers, researchers and language learners using computing technology.
