ABSTRACT

An environmental survey of Manchar Lake was developed during the months of Jul y September 2012. Samples were collected from three different stations i.e. Mancher. Aral
Wah and MNVD before and after rainfall. The physico-chemical parameters tested were PH.TDS. EC. BOD, COD, turbidity and hardness.

This rescarch work focused on the environmental issues facing Mancher Lake i.e. disturbed water quality, diminishing natural resources and unplanned changes of land under use. The water quality is highly affected by manmade inputs of municipal and
industrial discharge of waste material. Physico-chemicals parameters were analyzed at three different environmental laboratories. With the help of satellite, imaging vegetation. dry land. and present area of Manchar Lake was analyzed and recorded by Remote Sensing Software.

Results observed during the survey reveals that the values of pH, TDS, EC, BOD, COD. turbidity and hardness arc higher before rainfall than the results of Valer samples obtained after rainfall. ln other words, the values of all above parameters are changed L h an that of previously. This situation has conflicted the biodiversity, water quality and the community living and depending on Manchar Lake. Contamination of water has threatened the life of the people who live around the Lake Mancher. For this study. a survey was conducted to determine the nature of diseases faced by the residents of various villages near Manchar. The results show that the people are suffering from.
Hepatitis Typhoid. Diarrhea and skin diseases.

present Fish catch i s 10-15 instead of 3000 tons as reported in 1950. Simultaneously the number of species has also decreased now only 40 species are found, instead 200 species.
