ABSTRACT

Concrete is one of the essential materials of the construction industry and it is second highest consuming material after water in the world. The strength and durability are the main properties of concrete which make it very useful. These parameters depend upon various factors such as materials, batching, mixing, transporting, pouring, finishing and curing. Temperature is one of the major parameters which affects the
overall properties of the concrete and generally concrete is cast in ambient.
This study focuses to investigate experimentally the effect of ambient.
temperature at the time of casting of concrete on the properties of concrete if concrete
is cast with high water cement ratio. The concrete of I 2:4 with water cement ratio
0.81 is considered for the study. Cubes specimens of standard size are cast for determining compressive strength. Initially ambient temperature and workability is tested during casting, then specimens were cured for wet curing. The specimen Were tested at 28 days. The results reveal strength increase with the increase in ambient temperature because high ambient temperature leads to rapid slump loss which is increased by addition of excess water which offset the effect of slump loss This.
concludes that the quantity of excess water needed to be added should follow certain calculations and preliminary experimental study.
