| General note | ABSTRACT

Agriculture in one of the most significant sources for human sustenance on earth.
It does not only provide the much essential food for human life but also a
vital role in the economy of the country. Agriculture prerequisite are such a tools
and technology that develop the efficiency and quality of production and reduce
the environmental impact and human struggle, Wireless Sensor Network" (WSN)
can efficiently be used in agriculture fields to monitor several agricultural aspect
such as temperature, humidity, light intensity land monitoring and environmental/earth
sensing, etc. Nodes of a WSN collect the data and then
transmit that measured data to its destination i.e., base station, from where
satisfactory actions can be taken. ms thesis explores the potential, design and
deployment of a real WSN system in the agriculture sector in Pakistan.
The proposed Agricultural Environmental Monitoring System can monitor
the environmental parameters of the crops and provide recommendations/services regarding the specific crops to fhrmers. 'Ibe purpose of such system is to improve the output
of crops by means of managing and monitoring the temperature, humidity and light
intensity for growth period of crops. Real time deployment of the proposed system
has been performed at Kazi Ahmed city and its surrounding areas. The real time
data is collected by the sensor nodes and transmitted to the base station
via wireless medium. 'Ibe received data has been stored and maintained in database
and displayed on GUI Tool at base station to attain temperature, humidity and light
intensity of crops. The implementation of the system related hardware and software is
also highlighted, including the design of wireless node and the implementation principle of RF
communication modules. Ihis system overcomes the limitations of traditional ways
of farming and has several advantages such as cheap and easy installation, flexible networking,
high
reliability and user friendly interface. Another aspect of this work is that necessary
changes can be made easily to avoid difficulties being faced by farmers while
cultiβ’.ating their crops. Hence this system is helpful to farmers to understand field
feasibly and improve productivity in a convenient and practicable manner.

|
