| General note | ABSTRACT<br/><br/>The study of rainwater and sewerage disposal system for QUEST, 'has been carried out for the QUE T. The study zone comprises of 6170 people. It is largely residential and institutional zone and huge quantity of municipal wastewater which is ultimately disposed off in open area near residential area. The QU T is facing rain and sewerage water problem since last two decades. The QUEST has also faced heavy rain floods in early 1990s and 2011. The academic session remained suspended for about 03 Months. Whole infrastructure including class rooms were under water. It is in the interest of National institution to establish an appropriate drainage system to address the rain-flood issues raised during 2011.<br/>The study is based on knowing the quantity of wastewater generated in the vicinity of QUEST, and find out the best options of disposal system. More than 450 houses, eight departments and ten hostel blocks exist presently. There are two Governments and one Private School. No proper disposal (Rain and Sewerage) is available in<br/>QUEST.<br/>This study found that about 910656 of wastewater is generated on daily basis from the area. In addition to this area received 628.2mm of rainfall in August & September 2011. This intensity level rainfall is maximum in the recorded history.<br/>The second highest rainfall recorded was 256.30mm. The combined effluent i-e rain<br/>water as well as wastewater aggravates the sewerage disposal system. The stagnant<br/>status of wastewater causes numerous damages and problems. On the basis of this research. The feasible solution lies is the rehabilitation of existing sewerage system and its connection with the LBOD system for the long run and sustainability of the areas environment. <br/> |
