General note ABSTRACT

An economical and reliable Indoor climate control system is responsible to provide and deliver comfortable indoor climate to the occupants of the building in an efficient way by controlling indoor air temperature and other climate variables within permissible limits. An efficient climate controller for HVAC performs important role for reduction in energy consumption of a building. The old conventional controllers are expensive in the long run due to their less energy efficiency. By using modem controllers and feedforward technique better control can be achieved. Modem controller for heating and cooling are little expensive initially as compared to conventional controllers but in the long run the modem controllers will be cost effective due to their energy efficiency. In this research work fuzzy logic controller (FLC) is used for better control and to handle the uncertainty in the system model, which often happens in the case of climate modeling for the building. For energy efficiency, feedforwarding (FF) of outdoor temperature is used. In this research work it is also presented that how energy balances equation can be used for dynamic thermal model of the building, the same set of equations will also be used to evaluate system performances. For the purpose of evaluating system performance, outdoor and different indoor disturbances are applied to the system. The proposed FLC controller and the dynamic thermal model is developed, simulated and examined in
MATLAB/Simulink environment.
The simulation results of FLC for the parameters indoor air temperature and energy are compared with conventional PID controller. The simulation results, when compared with conventional PID controller, results show that the proposed FLC has good control on the indoor air temperature of a given room. It is also observed that FLC can enhance the dynamic and the transient stability of indoor climate more easily and efficiently during the wide range of operating conditions i.e. under
different indoor and outdoor situations.
