| General note | ABSTRACT<br/>Now days our country is facing the Worst energy crisis in power sector due to<br/>insufficient power generation and sharp increase in demand. This condition is badly<br/>affecting the economy Of the country.<br/>In the wake Of energy crisis in the country, all viable options (which can reduce the<br/>severity) must be given a chance. In the form of demand side management (DSM)<br/>programs, utilities have a solution which tough can do no miracle but at least we can<br/>soften the impact of crisis in shortest span of time, giving our energy experts latitude<br/>to come up and implement long term plans. In fact the alarming scenario of the<br/>power crisis can be testified from the increasing gap in demand and supply, which is<br/>continuously reaching a new stratum each year.<br/>In this thesis we present the efficient techniques for reducing technical losses for<br/>saving the energy at grid station and load management techniques at distribution<br/>feeders. For this purpose we have chosen 132 kV Grid station Society, Nawabshah<br/>for improving the power factor by installing capacitor banks and load management at<br/>consumer side Of one feeder and street lights Of Nawabshah city. For the load<br/>management at consumer side first we survey the consumers of different categories<br/>of Society feeder, Nawabshah. Then we suggest the efficient device for the<br/>replacement old devices of high rated power and extra tips were also suggested By<br/>applying these techniques at consumer side more than 3000 MW of power may be<br/>saved in Pakistan. Secondly for load management at consumer side we also select the<br/>Street light of Nawabshah city. For this purpose we suggest the replacement of high<br/>rated power street lights of city Nawabshah by efficient LED shades and energy<br/>savers for saving the energy. Due this energy conservation technique at street lights<br/>of Pakistan more than 100 MW of power can saved.<br/>This development is the need of today's rising technology. If appropriately executed,<br/>these techniques could profit both consumers and the utility because it will help<br/>HESCO as well other distribution companies to predict the daily variation, seasonal<br/>variation and peak hours variation in the load flow and also promote their load<br/>management system in such a way that maximum efficiency is achieved at little<br/>running cost. |
