500 _a ABSTRACT The university campus contribute a large portion demand to the local transportation market. The situation is true for some localities of Sindh province of Pakistan; such as the city of Jamshoro Nawabshah (SBA) Despite less developed and relatively remote location, Jamshoro holds three major universities of the Sindh Province, which not only accommadates at least 50% of the provincial higher education capacity but also holds students from other provinces and countries. These universities have become major sources of trip generation towards multiple domestic, national and even international destinations. Commuters produced by these universities include both genders, i.e., male and female. Majority of the previous studies have based their analysis on samples collected among students of advanced or developed economies; and very less attention has been given to less developed and developing regions. Consequently, this proposal is motivated by such persisting research gaps. This study has focused the three universities of Jamshoro, and has collected data through the questionnaire survey. The collected data is then analysed to understand the travel patterns of students originating trips to their hometowns of different location across the province. In particular, this thesis has focused on choosing travel modes and trip rates. Furthermore, factors of dissatisfaction associated with travel modes and their remedial measures are sorted out. The results of this thesis will help transportation officials, i.e., constructors, policy makers and regulators etc., with better understanding of the persisting gaps in existing transportation industry.
