Crude oil based products such as diesel; petrol and natural gas are limited. Moreover, these natural resources are limited and are found in specific regions of the world. Currently the countries having low or no fossil fuel are facing shortage of the petroleum products. Therefore; alternative energy resource must be explored. In this research work exhaust particulate emission, sound pressure level and engine performance test have been carried out using different fuel samples, such as diesel and biodiesel blended fuels. There are two fuel samples which have been used in this research work such as B25 (biodiesel 25% and 75% diesel fuel) and I 00% diesel as a baseline fuel. All tests have been conducted at constant RPM of 1350 and variable loads conditions from 0.0 to 1.6 at an interval of 0.2Kg-m. From the results, it has been found that the exhaust particulate emission has been decreased when biodiesel blended fuel (B25) was tested in the engine as compared with baseline diesel fuel. However, the brake specific fuel consumption of biodiesel blended has been decreased with increase in brake power and brakes thermal efficiency has been increased with increase in brake power. In this work sound pressure level was also measured from different locations such as back, front and left. From the results it was observed that increase in percentage of biodiesel caused decrease in engine sound pressure level UR - http://tinyurl.com/4js8aukf ER -
