Concrete is considered chief construction material new even today. It is believed that other than water the concrete is next most consuming material throughout the world. Concrete not only is used in buildings but also efficiently used in the construction of highway pavements. The manufacture of concrete with ordinary ingredients causes the depletion of the natural aggregate on the other hand the waste produced from industries, agriculture and replacement of old tires etc causes divesting environmental effects. Hence the manufacture of concrete with used or recycled material as aggregate is one of the active areas of research of the day. There is increasing volume of end to life tires due to increasing use of vehicles worldwide. The work presented is an experimental investigation m order to study the suitability of crumb rubber. Rubber tire used as fine aggregate in concrete. The parented studied are the workability, compression strength, tensile strength and skid resistance. Fine aggregate replaced by crumb rubber from 5% to 20% with an increment of 5% specimens of standard size were cast and tested as per standard procedure. The resuIts normal concrete without crumb purpose. The results reveal the strength also. However the skid Were compared with the relevant results of rubber which was also cast and tested for the decrease in workability, compression and tensile resistance of crumb rubber concrete is improved when compared to that of normal concrete which should increase the viability of crumb rubber concrete to be adopted in the pavements particularly the place where skid resistance is the major parameter of consideration aDepartment of civil engineering faculty of engineering uhttp://tinyurl.com/533z7b2h
