Software quality provides error free and reliable software and gets attention and satisfaction of the end users. Without implementing the software quality techniques, the chances of software failure increases. One of the major issues which arise in software qual ity is a gap between software quality research and practice. The gap is the variance between ho software qua lity research is conveyed and how software quality challenges are being ob erved in industries. The gap can be filled by introducing a taxonom . The proposed taxonomy is aimed to improve communication between research and practice in the area of software quality in industry-academia cooperation. The proposed taxonomy is built through organized and target oriented approach with the help of direct and indirect comm unication. In indirect communication the data is gathered from literature review, biogs, and articles. In direct communication the data is gathered through interviews and online survey from the researchers and practitioners. A questionnaire is designed which contains 20 different questions about team coordination, team dispersion, culture, team behavior, attitude, team experience and so on. After collecting relevant data, a taxonomy is proposed in which industrial challenges are mapped with the solutions provided by the researchers. In this regard multiple solutions are achieved; each problem can be resolved by more than one solution. The practitioners have evaluated •the taxonomy in their software firms and provided their positive feedbacks through a questionnaire. The proposed taxonomy can be utilized by both researchers and practitioners to overcome the gap between software quality research and practice. aDepartment of Information Technology uhttps://tinyurl.com/2awujp4m cTHESIS 00104070aRESEARCHbRESEARCHd2018-10-22l0pMP/37-397r2018-10-22 00:00:00yTHESIS 00104070aRESEARCHbRESEARCHd2019-02-27l0pMP/39-432r2019-02-27 00:00:00yTHESIS
