  <note>ABSTRACT

The role of Routing Protocols is very worthwhile to exchange data between the routers in the networks. The aim of this thesis to analyze the performance of the Link-State routing protocols like OSPF and IS-IS and Distance vector routing protocols like IGRP, EIGR P and RIP by using OPNET (Optimize network engineering tool) simulator.
In view of getting valuable outcomes regarding the performance of the routing protocols, this research have designed five separate layouts, each model separately containing the routing protocol that is RIP, IGRP, EIGRP I S-IS and OSPF. To properly assess the performance of routing protocols, in this research traffic selected the HTTP (Hyper Text Transfer Protocols), FTP (File transfer protocols) and E-mail. The parameters such as HTTP traffic sent and receive, FTP traffic sent and receive, E-mail Traffic sent and receive, Process delay, Throughput , the results calculated from the
outcome of the simulated analysis.
