Practical implementations of different types of controllers for the speed control of
DC shunt motor in detail. control techniques of motor speed are studied and
observed under variable load conditions with following controllers:
Single phase half wave simple motor control
Single phase full wave simple motor control
Closed loop proportional control
Proportional control with Armature voltage feedback
Proportional control with IR compensation control
Proportional integral control
MATLAB/SIMULINK model of PI control for the speed control of DC motor
MATLAB/SIMULINK model of PID control for the speed control of DC motor
PI controllers prove as suitable candidate amongst all these controllers PI controller
is selected for software simulation and their accuracy is compared '*ith hardware
model. PID is considered as most suitable controller in the industrial world.
Therefore PID is suggested in this project and is verified as most suitable controller
for speed control of DC shunt motor.
