They have a major and important role in industries. Due to energy crisis and shortage of energy resources in the country, it is essential to have regular audit activities and conservation measures. The purpose was carried out energy audit in most the crucial section of Habib Sugar Mill, Nawabshah , Sindh Pakistan, In this section energy losses have been determined in Stack flue gas, Blow down, Condensate, Steam on cane% & due Low Steam Bagasse ratio and High Moisture content. The task was done by collection of various data such as flue gas and feed water temperature, the data of cane crushed, sugar production, steam generation and consumption & bagasse consumption on daily basis from the main laboratory and control room of the boiler section. The data was used for calculation of losses and conservation opportunities in the mill. The total losses were Rs.738417000.00 per year. The Stack flue gas losses were 20141062.7GJ &17.4%. In Rs: 24 crore, 78 lacks & 38 thousands per year. Blow down losses were 10982.74 GJ &0.7% In Rs: 1 Crores & 43 thousands per year. Condensate losses were 33275 GJ & 1.22%. In Rs: 1crore, 75 lacks & 13 thousands per year. Low steam bagasse ratio losses were 155610 ton of steam & 28%.In Rs: 28 Crores, 29 lakhs and 27 thousands. Excess Steam consumption on cane losses were 99052 ton of steam & 18%. In Rs: 18 Crores and 96 thousands. .It was found that by reducing moisture content of bagasse from 50% to 48%,the efficiency of the boilers were increased from 67% to 70%.As a result, amount of Rs:53 Crores could be saved. By adopting energy conservation measures and utilizing energy efficient technologies & using waste heat recovery system, these losses can be reduced and be converted into bagasse saving or electricity generation It is suggested that economizer and air pre heater which are already installed but are not being used for flue gas heat recovery purpose, should be used for saving of fuel and energy.
